<p>I’ve read just the opposite. What I read was that you need to make sure that your app (the portions that you are responsible for) are in on time. Then, if there are missing items like rec letters, the school will let you know that they are missing. Since the colleges know that the teachers are responsible for sending these in, they aren’t going to hold it against you if they are not there on time.</p>
