I know this has been asked before but I cannot seem to find the old posts at the moment so here goes:

Where do my two teachers write their letters of rec, in the common app space or on the Harvard supplement space? Also, can they do it online so I do not have to ask them to reprint it by hand every time I have to use their letter(which will be like 11 times...hence why I am hoping I can just use the common app space and leave the Harvard supp space blank...really why is that there?)

or if someone would just like to answer the question posted by OrchDork1 on the other thread…that would help as well. But will the common app be considered complete if we do not fill in any teacher recs there?

And of course, the above question on how my teachers can fill out the Harvard evaluation online. That is really bugging me. I am not going to ask them to write anything by hand…

You have to invite your teachers to write/upload their recommendations through the common app. Once the application for the new season opens, you can sign up for an account, then on the teacher recommendation page, fill out the information about your teachers, and go from there. Same goes with counselor’s rec. Should be very straightforward and self explanatory once you get to that point. Teacher recs go separately from the portion of the app you fill out as the applicant.

Yes, your part of the app will be considered complete once you complete and submit it. The teachers’ part is considered a separate component: normally, however, the admission office won’t start reviewing your file until everything from all parties are submitted and downloaded/processed at the office.

Thank you! That was very helpful. I think I may end up doing what you did and just have them send them in via snail mail. That seems to simplify things a bit.

Just to clarify, does this mean I can leave the Harvard teacher rec forms blank?
