I still haven't started any other applications yet lol but i will start hopefully this weekend. My question is when should I give my teachers the recs for RD? We find out on Dec. 10th about Cornell, so is it too late if I give the them the recs on monday dec. 13th?

Im giving mine tomorrow, it is probably most coniderate to do it this way so they have the most time, i told mine not to send them until the 13th (the monday we get back to school) this way if i do get in, they won't have to send it, but if I don't they can go ahead and send it, and unless you think you are certain to be accepted to Cornell, I would give them by the end of the week, or at least on monday, plus my school is stupid and we had to have our transcript requests in already, try for monday and let them know not to send it until the 13th at the earliest

Yea but the thing is I don't want to hassle them with unnecessary work. If I do get in, then they filled out all the recs for nothing. I'm using the same teachers for RD as I used for Ed, so will they use the same essay? I mean, are all recs similar enough so they can just use the ED essay? In that case, I guess I can give them the recs monday of next week

I'm using the same teachers too, last time I asked one of my teacher recs to submit it before the 24th of October, one week before the deadline, but he didn't submit it until probably a day or two before, so im not worried about him doing it, my other teacher was very punctual which i really appreciated, but at least by letting them know and having the material if they stumble upon a time when they could devote time to it and they have nothing else to do, they could get it out of the way, but if you wait until monday the 13th, unless the teacher is a neighbor or something and you can do it on the 11th or 12th, i would give it soon. i'm sure they don't want to be rushed to finish it in a week and a half before winter vacation, and if you do get in, i'm sure they will be really really proud of you and not care about writing extra recs, plus you could always make a snack like cookies for them if you get in to thank them for their time, they'll appreciate that, bottom line is that i feel it wouldn't hurt to go early in case they do want to add stuff for each individual school

Give your teachers one rec, just so they can get the bulk of the work done just in case. Then, if you need to, you can request more since subsequent recs usually take maybe 5-10 minutes to write. Also, remember that for many school systems, its a job requirement for teachers to write recommendations for students, so don't be afraid to ask.
