Teacher Recs

So i posted a thread a long time ago that was when most people asked their teachers for recommendations. Someone told me that it might be a good idea to ask by the end of junior year so teachers aren't bogged down by other numerous requests at the beginning of senior year. So, i've decided that i'm going to ask 2 teachers that know me well for the recommendations. However, the forms aren't available until late July for the class of '14 (according to website) so this means that I would just ask now and then give them the forms at the start of senior year?

Ask them to write you a teacher rec letter. No form needed.

You won’t be able to give them any forms now. The applications for next year won’t be out yet. You can ask them now if they will be willing to your recs for next year, just to “lock them in,” I suppose.

If I remember, Dartmouth uses the Common Application so the form of the teacher rec will be pretty similar to last year’s form.

My D’s asked her teachers at the beginning of senior year. She put her rec packages together in September and gave them to her teachers. Each package included a copy of her transcript, a resume, the rec forms, an addressed and stamped envelope for each school, and a list of when the recs were due. This worked out well for her teachers.
