Teacher Recs

What envelope size should I give to the teacher to send out on her own?..One of those large office manilla folders, just a regular envelope so they fold the recs, etc. Sorry a bit eccentric but I jus wanna get it right.

I know Columbia wants you to use big envelopes so you don't fold the recommendations. Most other schools don't care.

All the recommendation letters I've seen, even for the Ivies, have been in regular-sized envelopes.

I always gave the teacher a regular size envelope to submit recs in. If they were mailing them themselves, make sure the envelope is stamped and addressed to the Admissions Office. If the teachers are giving the recs to you or your counselor to mail, make sure your name and the name of the college/scholarships is on the envelope. In addition to the envelope, I gave my teachers a copy of my resume to help them in writing recommendations. I put the envelope, the resume and a sheet of paper with the mailing address (incase they lost the small envelope) and the due date in one of the large paper envelopes (same size as the manila ones but made of paper - cheaper) to keep everything together.
