Teacher Recs?

I'm hopefully doing ED for Penn CAS, and had some questions about teacher recs.

On the website, it says: "It is most helpful to us if your recommendation letters are from teachers in a course that relates to your intended major or lies in an area of continuing interest for you." Does this mean I don't have to follow the general rule of one letter from English/history and one from math/science if I am interested in pursuing science?

Also, I plan to use one from my AP chemistry teacher last year, but I am also interested in biology. However, in my school district, you normally take honors biology in your freshman year, and AP biology in either junior/senior year (based on how junior high and senior high are divided up). I'm taking AP biology this year, so I've had my teacher for maybe 2-3 months. Would it be unwise to ask for a letter from him?

you should get recs from teachers who know you well. the tips on the penn website are just suggestions, not requirements.
