My teacher hasn't submitted my recommendation letter on time on the Common App

So I have submitted all of the necessary materials for my application on the common app but when I go to look at my LOR status it says "not started". I emailed this teacher reminding him of the due date but had no reply but he is aware he is writing me one. The application is due tonight and it is obvious that it won;t be submitted in time. I am just wondering will he be able to submit the application after the deadline? It is important he submits it and I made sure to remind him of the deadline so I don't think it my fault it is late.

It happens more frequently than you might believe. Colleges are used to this and they don’t penalize the students. It needs to be there when they actually review your app, which will be awhile.
What’s important is that you continue to be polite in your reminders to your teacher while not letting it go.

Schools generally think of the deadline for the bits of the app that are outside your control as “postmarked by” rather than received by their specified date. If the rec is submitted online within 2 or 3 business days of the deadline, it should be just fine.
