"An award-winning football player who was team captain, class president and is now a class co-valedictorian is among 475 Memorial High School seniors who graduated May 28.

"David Colquitt, who also attended Spring Branch Middle and Memorial Drive Elementary schools, will enroll in prestigious Princeton University this fall. He is thinking about law school and a career in politics.

The political bug bit David firsthand. Last fall, he formed Memorial Highs Students for Bush club, which signed up an estimated 250 young people and helped make them fully aware of 2004 campaign issues.

Family and faith are the foundation for me and all that I do going forward. Ive really been blessed in many ways - a great school, great family, and faith, the new graduate says.

Ok, I know you and Byerly like posting threads like these for your respective schools, but they don't really help anyone. Is there a way we can all just stop posting threads like these? They seem to cause more arguments then actual discussion. I suppose I can't make you stop, but its something to think about. Its not a big deal either way, I suppose.

they're interesting case studies for people trying to get into the school. I'm not sure if I like to read them; seems more self-serving than anything. nonetheless, I'm sure some people here would find that reading stories such as these can be encouraging.

Oh, so a 2400 Sat, 4.0, Val who is Class President, Captain of 3 Varsity teams and Founder of a research organization working on developing cold fusion getting into/going to Princeton is encouraging?

Ok, so that was a bit more sarcastic then I intended, but I still think they aren't helpful. I mean there are 20,000 admits to the top 10 schools, why don't we just single out all of them also? Ok that was overly facitious also, but you get my point. These threads don't bother me much-only the irritating debates (if you can call them something as respectable as a debate) that stem from them do. It doesn't matter much, soon these will be "out of season" and by the time we get into mid summer, they will be gone.

I wouldn't have put Spring Branch, TX in the title line. Yes, the student graduated from Memorial High School in Spring Branch ISD, but Spring Branch ISD is in Houston. Spring Branch, TX is located north of San Antonio in Comal ISD, and feeds into Smithson Valley High School.

Sorry, but I only post stories about where kids are going in the year they are printed.

We're all interested in where the Class of 2010 is going at the moment.

The time for 2009 or 2008 stories, IMHO, was last year or the year before.

I assume the OP just overlooked the publication date.

Interestingly, the recruit may have dashed some hopes, as he doesn't seem to be playing football for the Tigers, but is writing for the campus conservative publication!

I was referring to your use of any links you can find that can substantiate your point whatever the year.

I don't see what the problem is with highlighting a great kid like this in a thread. If some folks are provoked to jealously then that's their problem. My son happens to be friends with him and is involved in some of the same groups on campus.

I'm sure he's a fine kid, and a good conservative.

Its still kind of sad the OP seems to have

(1)run out of news stories about the current crop and has had to google through the dustbin of history for a story about a high school admit to an earlier class, and then

(2) presented it as a hot-off-the-presses report about a member of the class of "Princeton '10"!

Byerly, I really didn't want to resort to this argument but I feel obligated to.

Your post times for this thread were 3:13 A.M., 9:21 A.M., 2:53 P.M., 3:12 P.M., and finally 3:33 P.M.

Listen I thought Harvard graduates were suppose to be sucessful and have jobs-not mope around with high school students on the internet. When I am middle aged, I hope to God I don't end up like you.

Sorry if you take offense. Still because you seem to be resorting to ad hominem attacks, I don't feel as bad doing it either.

I don't have anything against Harvard, or Stanford or Yale or Princeton or whatever just rude behavior on a site I am trying to use as a resource.

(I still think we should ban all threads like these because they all end up like this-a flame war.)
