I take offense! This preceeding post looks and feels like .... what do you call it? ... an "ad hominem attack!"

Okay friends, calm down. Ive been away for a bit and just returned. Byerly is correct. I simply made a mistake and thought that this was a current article. I found it interesting and posted it. Please accept my apologies.

As for the issue of whether or not these articles are of interest or useful, I would say that I agree with Byerly. I think they are both interesting and useful whether the posts highlight the achievements of incoming Princeton students or Harvard students (or, by the way, students at many other schools!) I see it as a celebration of the achievements of amazing young men and women and I hope no one takes offence. I believe them to be useful in that they showcase the great variety of talents that can help students get into competitive schools. Also, I would suggest that the number of viewers seems to confirm that they are worth posting. At any rate, most of these stories disappear as soon as seniors have graduated. On the other hand, arguments started by these posts seem very misguided to me.

Finally, Byerly, you rascal are you questioning my motives? Actually, its relatively easy to find these stories online and Ive rejected far more than Ive posted. The articles Ive posted are those that I found particularly interesting.

I am almost exclusively interested in heartland stories - particularly about those kids for whom good financial aid has made the dream of an Ivy education possible - and about kids whose admission to Harvard is reportedly a source of pride to their school and their community.

I generally avoid the stories about kids from upscale areas, or about recruited jocks - which are a dime a dozen - unless its a kid who picks Harvard over an athletic scholarship school like a Stanford!

See, for example: http://harvardbaseball.blogspot.com/

Byerly - can you keep your Harvard joy on the Harvard threads instead of hijacking YSPM threads in your spirit of one-up-ism.

We here on the Princeton threads care about Princeton students.

Not talking you, momma; I was talking with Princeton2000 about our common interest.

You should talk. You seem to butt in all over the cc boards to steal the thread and interject about Harvard.

Chill out, momma
