Thought I had my S's prescreen problems worked out, until we remembered that one of the conservatories he's applying to wants audio, not video. He needs video for the others. Is it possible to extract the audio from a video recording made from a Zoom Q3 HD?

Yes. I use Freestudio video to mp3 converter. As the name implies, it is free. There are a number of programs dowloadable from the internet. I’m sure others will know of more.

Thanks, woodwinds. I went to FAQs site for the Zoom, and found this Q/A.

Can I extract only the audio from a video that I have made?
Yes. The supplied HandyShare application allows you to save the audio as a WAV file.

So does that mean it can do it without the software you mention?

If the Zoom website says you can, then you probably can. I wanted to save the audio as an mp3 file, so I did it the way I described to you.

I believe the handyshare software comes with the unit so you should be able to do that, yes. If not, there are a lot of programs out there that can strip the audio off the video, so you will def be able to do that.
