I want to design or work on military weapons/equipments. What kind of technical electives should I be looking at for this? By the way, my major is Mechanical Engineering.

Some sort of materials electives wouldn’t hurt. What stage of weapons/equipment development are you interested in?

Well and this all depends on what kind of “weapons/equipments” you want to work on. Planes? Tanks? Guns? Missiles? Satellite tracking programs? Radars? The list is endless. I think we really need more information from you to truly answer your question.

I’m interested in guns and smaller equipments like the ones the people actually carry in their gear. As for stages, I’m not sure yet but probably somewhere in the earlier stages of development.

Try and find some electives that focus on product design or engineering analysis. Also, aerodynamics and a course in the finite element method may help. Mabe an advanced materials class as well?

It sounds like you are going to have to go to graduate school to really get into the design of millitary weapons or equipment.
