Technical Theatre Portfolio interviews - Unifieds or at the school, does it matter?

Does anyone have experience of if it's better to have your portfolio interviews at each school individually or regionally, such as at Unifieds? Anything you can share on your experience would be very appreciated!

Rather like performance auditions, I think it is a matter of what you feel comfortable with…idk about tech theater acceptances, but performance bfas have nearly equal acceptance rates from campus/unifieds, it doesn’t seem to help or hurt either way. While you may or may not do interviews on campus, I would think that it would be REALLY valuable for a tech theater applicant to have toured the facilities, to see the spaces, types of equipment available etc. I can tell you that seeing the spaces and capabilities changed my D’s final school list…there was one well known program that had yucky facilities/equipment, and one that we just “threw in” b/c it was in the same city as another program where she felt the “stuff” was cool enough that she wanted to get her hands on it…

I agree with toowonderful that it matters if you visit but it doesn’t have to be for an audition. Another reason for visiting is that schools look for students who are most likely to accept them. So, for example, we found that the schools we visited made us better financial aid offers.

Thank you. I’ve toured all that I’m applying to but didn’t want to have the huge expense of flying back/forth so many different times!
