I had my last post on this forum years ago while trying to get into a good school. Now I am graduating and its such a good feeling to get back to here for a job discussion.

What do you guys think about Technology consultant positions? Is it a good career start? I think SAP consultancy position are quite popular these day. What is the future of a tech consultant is likely to be? Does it turn into a pure IT job in the long run?

I'd appreciate your experiences and ideas. Indeed, these are life changing discussions.

If you go into tech consulting out of college, you can go in several directions afterward.

You could find that you enjoy the tech aspects of the job and move into a role focused on that (perhaps as a programmer for a company)

You could find that you enjoy project management and move into that role

You could find that you are more interested in consulting than technology and switch to a more strategy or management based consulting company

You could do anything else you feel like doing if you don’t like your field.

In short, no it is by no means a pure IT job. Project management is and always will be a MAJOR part of any client-based company.
