teens with divorced/divorcing parents

How did the divorce change your life and character? Also, do you think it's a good topic to write about for my college essay if I focus on my personal development? I'm worried it may be cliche...love to hear yout thoughts/stories!

well i can't really say, my parents got divorced just before my 4th birthday and i've lived with my mom ever since...

actually that's a lie. my parents got divorced in 1989 (i was born in 1991) they got back together and had me, and then separated again right before my 4th birthday.

then my mom got remarried and so did my dad. (yay for lots of family)

last year my dad got divorced again, lol. he sure can pick them.

idk if you should use it for your essay because i'm not you. if it seriously impacted you and you have become a better person then go for it. if not and you're just looking for it to make an excuse for something on your app that is lackluster then don't do it.

hope i helped, good luck.

50% of applicants have divorced parents.
Don't use it in your essays.

Well, my parent's divorce pretty much screwed over my last couple high school years since my money was split in half, I wasn't allowed to play a sport anymore, my parents are now saying they can't pay for any college, and I live in one of the smallest houses in the town. I actually wrote about how it affected my grades in high school, but how it ultimately made me more independent (even though it still kills me today).

Parents divorced when I was 7. My mom remarried but the guy threatened to kill us and stuff..she divorced and remarried again in 2004 or so.

My dad (after the divorce, which was a remarriage after a different divorce) got remarried again to some woman who was pure evil. They got divorced a few years ago.

In other words..your story isn't particularly unique.

So living alone in my home and not seeing either of my parents is probably quite common. Gosh...everything just seems so cliche.

I could still write this in a creative way, right?

Well living alone is unique lol. However, you didn't specify this and it came across as just a normal divorce. In this case, I would write about it.

No, I did not say I live alone. I guess I don't know what a normal divorce is. I'll probably write about living alone as a result of my parents' divorce and how it has allowed me to find myself as an independent girl.
