Okay, correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like second year students get the shaft when it comes to registering for classes. Sure, for the first phase sophmores register months before first year students, but when it comes to Phase 2, freshmen have priority over sophmores! What's the deal??!!?? Seniors register before everyone in both the first and second phase, the third years register before everyone except seniors in the first phase, and they register before (or with) the freshmen for the second phase...which leaves the second years with the shaft...we register LAST...thats just unfair. I personally used my first phase to register for the upper division classes I would need (trying to beat the other upper-div students to the punch), but my Phase 2 isn't till August 3rd, which is wayyyy after everyone else (including the freshmen!) have registered....how are sophmores supposed to register for Calc or Econ if they don't do it during Phase 1??

I devote this, my 5,000th post, to the Sophomore shaft.

I guess someone has to be last, right? Why sophomores and not freshmen? Well, I'm not quite sure. If you can think of a better way, you should suggest it to the provost or dean of undergraduates.

I really got shafted- why? I signed up for a five unit course and am waitlists for a two unit seminar. Yeah, I couldn't even sign up for three freaking courses because of the rare case of one of my classes having five units, and the seminar (which I basically had to sign up for in phase I in order to get) is two units, so my first choice four units class is probably full and I won't be able to take it. While it's true that at many, many schools students have trouble getting into some classes, there is little consolation there.

I know for sure that freshmen have better phase II times than everyone else. My current phase II appointment time this year w/ junior standing is later than my appointment time last year when I was an incoming freshman.

wait, did that go by already? evil laughter

don't worry. you'll be in the front of the pecking order in 2 years. everyone has to pass through the crap-pile some time in order to reach the top.
