Hi, I searched the Chapman University thread for more information about the television major at Dodge College but couldn't really find anything that answered my question. I was wondering, Dodge College is famous for its film production major. How is the television major in comparison? It seems like a lot of applicants apply for film and then have TV has their second choice to be safe. I'm not like that - I genuinely love television and want to work in the narrative TV industry. I'm worried that because the film production major is so competitive and well-known, it outshines the TV major. Are resources less available to the TV students? Or is it a more supportive atmosphere where the film course works closely with the Narrative TV strand? Does the television major itself have a good reputation? Does it seem like a lot of students who took television as a second choice?

I really don't want to offend any television students with these questions - I just wonder what the major differences are between the film major and the narrative television specialism. Could anyone give me a brief description of what the TV major is like to study in? What are the facilities like? Do you get training in single-camera setups as well as multi-camera if you're a narrative television student?

I'd be really grateful for any help you could give! Thank you :)

All the majors at Dodge are amazing! Whether you are in the TV major or in the film major. They have the best facilities to work with, and it only gets better as they grow. I read a statement from one of the Chapman students from another site that said, " The Dodge Film School was famously toured by Spielberg (whose son attended Chapman) and caused a major donation to USC to get its facilities up to Chapman standards!"

Here is the Dodge link for the television and broadcast journalism program that can provide some of the answers you are seeking for.

flippyadomp,
Here is another site you might want to check out from a current Dodge student in the TV major should you have more questions about the TV program. And a contact information is provided for anyone who has any questions. Good luck.
