Tell me about LMU

I got accepted into LMU last week, but I don't really know much about it other than it's supposed to be beautiful and I love SoCal?

Anyone have any experiences or knowledge to share?

My daughter and I visited there this summer. It is gorgeous and she really enjoyed the people that she met there. She has not heard whether she has been accepted or not. Her SAT is at the bottom of their average and so they told her they are still reviewing and she should hear after Christmas. Congrats!! By the way we are from Florida.

Well I guess the 2 biggest things about LMU is that
1- It's a beautiful campus, I mean just a gorgeous place you can't help but smile when you drive up to it. The buildings and technology are good and the views are just amazing.

2- It's in Los Angeles! In a part of LA that is more suburban than urban it's a more lowkey area but close to the beach and freeway access to the westside where the parties get rowdy. Very good location.

Of course you probably already know about this but they deserve to be mentioned again!

Some other things about LMU, the students are somewhat diverse and pretty friendly. Faculty members are approachable and there is a nice sense of student spirit even though the school is small and often overlooked especially due to its proximity to USC and UCLA.

Very good school and you should definitely visit if you have a chance. Also check it out on wikipedia for some facts.

Some cons to the school I've found are: it's expensive and it's Catholic (I'm not Catholic but though the school does respect people of all or no religion unlike Pepperdine and others).

i really want to go here..does anyone know how the theater program is???

Those who were accepted....When did you apply?

I applied at the end of November and got my acceptance in Mid January. If your a good candidate it takes about six weeks, longer if your borderline. Hope that helps.

Because my friend applied at the end of november too, but hasn't heard anything yet.

he had a 3.6 gpa, Top 5%, good ec's and recs, but his SAT was barely over 1000.

Wildcat Mom – my son also was deferred until all applications are in. He had applied for Early Admission. What do you think? Is there still a decent chance?

YOu can google “common data set” “loyolla marymount” 2009 … and find the stats for last year, how many deferred were accepted or enrolled - it’s usuall in that info.

Thanks KansasGirl. Much appreciated.
