Tell me about Wittenberg University

I'm familiar with some of the Ohio LACs (Denison, OWU, Kenyon, Wooster), but DS just got accepted to Witt and I don't really know anything about it beyond the statistics. Anybody familiar with the school? How would you characterize the students? Comparisons with other Ohio schools would be especially helpful. (Not much action on the Witt forum so thought I'd post here.)

Thanks!

I’m from around the area of Wittenburg (grew up in Yellow Springs where Antioch College is). My sister actually taught spanish at Wittenburg and she graduated with her BA from Kenyon :). Wittenburg is a good school and a fairly nice campus, but it’s loaded with commuters and the surrounding city of Springfield does leave something to be desired. I would not catagorize it with really community oriented campuses such as Wooster, Kenyon and Denison. It’s a good fall back for your S, but I would opt for another school. Maybe you will get some more positive feedback --this is just my impression and take based on what my sister felt (as faculty in 90’s).

You may want to check on the reports I made for each of the schools (Wit, Kenyon, Denison).

I would rank the schools:

Denison (Top Quality LAC) Nice new art facilities…strong in economics.

Kenyon (Top Quality LAC) (I had a big issue with dorm security at the school…don’t know it they addressed it yet.) Fantastic sport facilities. Strong in all areas especially the language arts.

Wittenberg (Medium Quality LAC)…the surrounding area does leave a lot to be desired.

Thanks very much–I always appreciate the honest feedback! Stitch–I’ll go check out your school reports.

I have a cousin currently at Witt and her younger brother is considering starting next fall. PM me with questions

One of my daughter’s friends goes to Wittenberg. He likes it. (He is an athlete there.)

They have a rep for the some of the best parties in Ohio.
They have good rep for scholastics too.
