Yes, I would love to hear about Lawrenceville directly from a current student. What year are you in? When did you enter? Where are you from? What is the academic load? Tell me about you interaction with faculty and staff? What other schools did you apply to? What made you choose Lawrenceville

L'ville is an incredible experience. I actually just came back from break a few hours ago, and now I'm in my dorm room.

I am a freshman and I'm from NJ, but I'm still a boarder. The academics are tough, but for first term, the school adds in many free periods to help ease the new students into the workload. They slowly start to add in more work. I came from an academically difficult private school prior to Lawrenceville, so I am prepared for the work...some other students find it more challenging than I do, but they are not challenged to the point where it is just too much. The interaction between faculty and students is realllyyyyy strong. Harkness method helps initiate the interaction. During classes, we have discussions. We also have consultation periods to speak to the teachers when we need extra help. Also, teachers and students constantly check our school email, so there is a lot of communication online too.

I also applied to Deerfield and Choate. I chose L'ville because it had the most balanced life. We are strong in academics, athletics, and the arts, but we don't forget to put some fun into our lives. The community is just incredibly strong, even though we have a large amount of students, and it just creates an amazing environment for everybody.

Hope this helped.

clz, that is great information. That is consistent with what we have learned thus far. As my name suggest, my daugther has applied and really wants to attend your school. Our visit went well and my daugther fell in love with Lawrenceville.

As a Father, are there any things you think I need to know about campus life. Do you see any drug or alcohol use? Are there any safety issues on campus that you experienced?

Every school has the occasional drug/alcohol use. We have this rule here that if you get two major offenses, you will be kicked out, such as drug/alcohol use, cheating, lying, stealing, etc. So far, I have heard of only one drug use this year. It is super safe on campus. But the road to cross the street (to restaurants, shops, etc) is SUPER busy, that could be a bit dangerous.
