I got in and a lot of FA! Now I don't know what to do!!! I originally wanted to go to Peddie, but now Lville is available and cheaper! I'm really really excited but also VERY freaked out.

Congrat, Justbeingme!
DO you mind posting your profile for the BS 2010 wannabe?
THanks in advance!

I put all of my stats on the Tomthecat thread for exceptances as well as on a chances thread in my profile (obviously I did that part before I got in).

i have just been accepted into lawrenceville. but i'mstill uncertain whether i want to go there or not. what are some of the pros and cons about lawrenceville? is it in the same tier/rank as andover, exeter (as i got into both of those schools too). what is better about lawrenceville than those schools?

Andover and exeter are better on ranking for sure

Well exeter has an excellent marine biology curriculum but lawrenceville is great for lacrosse.

I think it's fair to say that Lawrenceville's "prestige" if you will suffers from its location, as it doesn't fit the image a lot of folks have of the New England boarding school, although the campus itself is beautiful. If it were transported to New England to my way of thinking it would be up there with Andover and Exeter, maybe a bit below as I think the math/science isn't as strong as the humanities, which are outstanding. The house system is a real plus, well designed to give kids a strong community AND keep the classes integrated as a whole, and the restaurants across the street are virtually an extension of the campus, which is fun compared to some of the other more remote school locations (though it can be a bit tough on kids who need to budget their money more carefully.)
The PG's are not just athletes, which is another nice plus, and from what I have seen they do not dominate the teams or "take your spot" as I have seen mentioned on other posts.
There are pro and con opinions of the current head, but the faculty is, like most good boarding school faculties, top notch and devoted to the kids.

I miss the old Jigger Shop.
