I will suggest you pursue the uchicago…

No, I didn’t apply for aid.

Got rejected to every college 0 for 11

Then that is a bit weird…

Even your safety?

I’ve spent the better part of an hour reading this whole thread and I wonder if the problem isn’t so much now at results time but rather when the application list is being formulated. We had our wake up call several years ago when someone very close to us was rejected by all the Ivys despite being a valedictorian, 2 sport captain, great SATs, lots of community service and ECs…We realized then that this is not “your father’s college application” process and nothing is guaranteed. We set up three lists for our youngest when he applied. All were schools that he felt he could be comfortable attending after touring and doing his homework. First were the three safeties based on Naviance where his GPA/SAT were at the accepted end and all had rolling admissions so he had acceptances by October. Secondly were the three matches where his numbers matched up but with 30-40% acceptance rates, there was no guarantees. Lastly were the 5 reaches, the elites where he knew there was that unknown element as to who got accepted and he could easily get rejected at all 5 as get one or two acceptances. He demonstrated interest to those schools that considered it by touring and having interviews.
He told no one other than his GC and us as to where he was applying. He didn’t want the world to know like some people who posted everything on Facebook. He had realistic expectations so he would be like those that got rejected everywhere. Our High School has a meeting for parents in Junior year and they STRESS applying early to a school with rolling admission to get that first acceptance under your belt. He was fortunate enough to get accepted to all three safeties with nice merit money as well as one of the matches and even one of the reaches. We’ll have to wait until Sunday to find out the rest of the results. He’s on a school trip out of the country and decided he doesn’t want to know until he gets home…

jandjdad-
Did you happen to notice that all but the last few posts were a year or more old? The australian poster bumped the thread. The other experiences were last years admissions round.

/\ True but some things are annual occurences and overinflated expectations qualifies as being oen of them.

Often they’re realistic expectations just 10 years out of date. The competition for elite school admission these last few years has never been more brutal.

4 safeties

You were rejected from 4 safeties? What schools?

Around here it’s considered tacky to do facebook statuses. In the end, everyone just joins the network to the school they will attend, or likes the page. But only one. Nobody does the multiple thing. It’s just considered to be outre.
