Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

how important is the topic you choose in comparison to how you write & the arguments you make?

i'm afraid my topics are too teenager-y, especially in personal conflicts and societal issues part...

if your passionate about it and back it up well there shouldnt be a problem. Unless it's really teen-y like why it didnt matter that i didnt get a marc jacobs bag even though everyone else did.
if your a teen, most likely your gonna have a even partially trite personal conflict.

OMG my school gives so much hw that I haven't had ANY time to do this application with hw, ECs, etc... The things I do to be valedictorian =[

LOL the only things I've finished are the actual personal info, the transcript, the rec, and the booklist. 5 essays to go in 3 days! Yay! I'm actually sort of happy about that though, I do my best work under pressure. Leaving this short amount of time should also allow MY voice to come out of my essays, not someone elses.

Does anyone know the exact time the online app expires? I live in Hawaii so yea..Is it due midnight on the 25th? Or midnight on the 26th? Also, are the times Eastern? If it is, then my due date would be at 7pm the day before.

gl everyone haha

question: should my voice come out in a critical analysis? or would that be overly subjective?

the online app expires the 25th, but if you're applying online the transcript and rec were due on the 15th. I dont know when it's due, though... probably before midnight of 26th..... because technically it's stilll the 25th then, right?

voice def should come out wherever it can, IMHO.

thx crane. turn it in as soon your finished if you can. it would suck if you couldnt make it cuz of a time zone technicality.

Oh my god I just finished editing. I can't edit any more. I don't know what to do. If I go to sleep I know I'll just end up waking up in two hours to reread it.

It makes me feel a lot better knowing that I am not the only one who is doing this now, though. XD

It's officially the 22nd... good luck to all other paper applicants!

haha.... :) GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so im still kind of clueless on the "academic areas of interest"...if anybody's still online, what did you interpret that as?
but most of you are probably busy putting the last-minute touches to your essays :)

GOOD LUCK PAPER APPLICANTS.

i seriously cannot finish writing this essay. hgfdsghfgdshfgsh STRESSSSSSSS.

what are you interested in. law medicine engineering what?

For "academic areas of interest," I wrote down the things I'm thinking about majoring in. English, women's studies, Spanish lit, world religions. If you want to do something more specific, like become a vet, I guess you'd put that down.

thanx! i thought it might be more than that though, considering the 4 lines they gave on the application

nope. cuz on the online app you have a box, make it as long as it needs to be. TA will be ok with it.

"Unless it's really teen-y like why it didnt matter that i didnt get a marc jacobs bag even though everyone else did."

haha i love it!!

guys - less than 24 hours for paper applicants!! ahhh!!

SO frightened.

I also have my wonderful NYS Regents English Exams tomorrow and Wednesday, which I am ignoring because of my TASPlication. God, it's late. I hope I have ink in my printer.

I cross references three pieces of youth literature
hillary clinton's wellsely address, joyce Maynards looking back, and Nick handler's winning NY Times essay.

mm, submitting by mail, and not done revising, lmao. coming back to CC at this time was probably not a wise decision. ;)

does anyone else find the directions for submitting confusing? it seems to say to fold the application form and stick the essays in it. i think i lack basic reading comprehension after writing essays all day...

thank god i'm applying online LOL

I think that's what they want. They should have included a URL to a Youtube video of it, if they want to reach today's youth.
