Mine felt pretty short.

the interview definitely feels shorter than it runs. mine was over in an hour and fifteen minutes or so, and afterward i lingered and we chatted some more while i waited for my ride, but altogether it felt no longer than twenty minutes. in terms of preparation, my experience was different than Pepperoncini and inaweoflacs in that my brief half-hour practice interview with an AP Lang teacher and subsequent close rereading and discussion of my essays with my mom helped IMMENSELY in giving me ideas to use when obvious questions about my essays came up (and come up they did). my AP Lang teacher specifically asked me several questions that proved almost identical to several questions that popped up in my interview

My interview also ran about 1hr 15 min, but rather than starting from my essays, our conversation digressed immediately and we ended up talking about topics that weren’t even mentioned in my essays. Like Yosoybean, I prepped with an AP Lang/comp teacher and another adult, but none of their questions came up since we barely discussed my essays during the interview.
I agree with previous posters: the interview certainly felt shorter than it really was, but I was exhausted afterwards. A wonderful experience in itself–especially for one who is normally soft-spoken around people, it was refreshing to be thoroughly listened to.
Who else is still waiting to be interviewed?

Mine was two hours long, and we only really talked about one essay. Most of the discussion was tangential: I’d say something, he would challenge something in it, I’d defend my point, he’d challenge something within my defense, and so on. And for all of the challenging that went on, I wouldn’t actually characterize the interview as challenging, though it did require total engagement (which is probably why these things always seem to go by so quickly - no part of your brain left to keep track of the time). The only preparation is really knowing your essays and the ideas surrounding them, but assuming you’ve already internalized that most of your responses should come pretty naturally. Good luck everybody, and enjoy it!

I’m still waiting for interview… at this point, life seems pretty drab. How’s everybody’s spring break? Loaded with homework?

My spring break is non-existent!

@inaweoflacs

how so?

I can’t believe this thread is so quiet! Am I the only one who’s unbelievably nervous and excited about the TASP decisions? :D

When do we all think the decisions will come out? I’m placing my bet on the 24th.

^^ Maybe you should take it easy…

Decisions come when they come.

@SimpsonLisa: i’ve heard the first week of May is a good bet for when decisions come, though i’m not sure if that’s accurate

it will be on the 24th.

Woah, a week sooner than I had expected. Thanks for the info cleverforever.

I think many of us - chowling’s equanimity notwithstanding - are quietly feeling the same way you are, SimpsonLisa, just a little hesitant to post anything here because TASP really seems to discourage it.

Anyway, difficult though it may be, I’ll be trying to follow chowling’s advice and relax, since it’s completely out of our hands now. Keeping busy this week will probably help with the anxiety. Or for me, at this particular moment, maybe it’d be best to go to sleep…

I’ll dream of you, TASP.

@cleverforever
where did you get this “24th” info? im about to get an ulcer from the stress of waiting.

the telluride website says that it will be early may.

Last year it was the 25th

so about one week left, then? good luck to everybody!

@jackjim956

In the last few years the results have always come out in the first couple of days of the last week of April. ;)

@chowling

I can’t take it easy when I have to worry about so many things that hinge on whether I get into TASP or not. :P

@YoSoyBean

Thank you, YoSoyBean! Hopefully it will be sooner.

@wvhunt

Yeah, probably. I didn’t think that was a new rule though and this years thread has been significantly quieter than last years. We must be letting the side down.

Keeping busy is definitely the way to go though! Plenty of studying to do to distact myself… Not that it’s working, but hey.

Man oh man am I excited! every link for the first three pages on google results for tasp is purple. This is a fascinating article about tasp to keep your mind occupied for a couple minutes:) [Paradise Lost? | The New Journal](Paradise Lost? | The New Journal)

Haha JackJim, I know what you mean. I still try to search different keywords in the hopes that Google will produce a new TASP article to read.

Hey, this is kind of out of the blue, but now that we’re talking are any of you guys interested in Deep Springs College? It’s something I’ve found out about because of TASP, and it sounds pretty incredible - also going coeducational the year we apply for colleges, which I guess could be good and bad. Know about it? Interested?

Yeah I’ve known about it, and it seems interesting but probably not my thing. What are your thoughts on it?
