Telluride Association Summer Program (TASP) 2013

ESSAY LENGTHS? ESSAY TOPICS?
Mine were: 1- 1500 words 2- 1350 words 3- 1400 words 4- 975 words

Round 1 acceptances were March 1st, Round 2 the 24th of April.

Just wanted to say that I finished applying to TASP 8 minutes before the deadline! I’m not sure if I’m going to get past the first round, but I’m really excited. Good luck everyone!

I know TASS isn’t the same, but last year I started and finished my application the same day it was due, in addition to submitting at 9:03, and I still made it to the finalist round.

Welp, dunno if your clocks are all the same.

Good luck everyone!

Mine were 1150, 1000, 900, and 800
Pretty concise

I’m just not going to think about my essays until I know if I make it to the next round or not - I know if I read them again I’ll find lots of little mistakes and think of better ways to word things, etc.

Since someone keeps asking how long our essays are, I’ll answer… I don’t really think it matters at all, though.

1st- around 1300 words
2nd- way over 1500 so I had to shorten it a lot (ended up being exactly 1500 I think)
3rd- a bit over 1000
4th- a bit under 1300
5th- about 500
6th- I listed 8 books, 3 from school… now that I think about it, I probably should have done more…

Also, I just realized that I have a TON of homework due tomorrow that I haven’t started yet… anyone else in the same boat?

@OACLJV, even worse than you, I have midterms tomorrow! Woohoo!

omg I can’t believe I sent in the application 2 minutes late! haha oh well… actually i’m really sad lol. what are the chances they’ll still review it?

Submitted at 11:57

My essays were pretty short:

  1. a bit over 800 words
  2. under 500 words
  3. just under 1,200
  4. a bit over 1,000
  5. around 300
    I listed 8 books and 2 magazines

I submitted everything on time, but forgot to save my critical analysis onto a Word document. Is there a way I can still recover it?

@nomenclatureH: yes you can. just go to where you apply online and press “view form”

I began and finished the entire application today. stress.full.

@himynameisblah, was it a problem with the server? Maybe you could contact tasp to double check. Idk that may soothe your worries.

I turned it in like 2 minutes late too… D:
but my essays were approx. 1100, 1500, 1200, 700. lolyeah, kind of rushed on the last one :p

Crap, just realized I wrote about UPenn in the future plans essay, completely forgetting this thing is hosted by Cornell.
That…won’t sink me, right?

^ I’m pretty sure it wont. Cornell just hosts two of the sessions, and its not the people from Cornell who are reading it, its the people at telluride that are reading it.

The people at telluride, however, attend Michigan or Cornell

Submitted mine with 3 minutes to spare! Time to put this agony aside until March… :P

Welp, just looked over my essays in the light of a new, not-sleep-deprived day, and I realize now that they are all terrible. Basically, the worst things I’ve ever written, with the stupidest topics ever. All hope crushed.

See you all in March!
