Not sure which way to apply to have a better shot at being accepted to the nursing program. Thoughts on Temple Option vs submitting SATs

Only based on knowing that the nursing program is very hard to get into, I would not include the SAT scores since they look to me to be the weakest part of your application. Your score is certainly within the range for regular Temple admissions, but I am thinking that your score is low for nursing.

So, while I do not know how the Temple Option impacts an application, I think it could make sense for you. I attended an open house last year at Temple with my son and when they were talking about their various programs I recall them mentioning that nursing is their hardest program to get into with an acceptance rate around 10%. I could be misremembering that percent, but I know for sure they said it’s the hardest to get into of all their programs. I also believe they highly recommended applying EA to improve chances.

Have you thought about taking the ACT to see if you score higher? Not that a 1280 isn’t a good score, but for something like nursing where the competition is so stiff, it could definitely help to have a higher test score.

Could you contact admissions to find out the SAT range specifically for the BSN? That could give you an idea of where your SAT score lies in comparison to those admitted.

I had an in person discussion with temple advisor … I would not do the option. Most of not all nursing students submit test scores. I got the feeling that despite what you read they would not give the option equal weight. We submitted an ACT score of 27…
