temple option

Hi, ive seen some posts on this from time to time and i know many of you are still waiting on to still get accepted under Temple option. could you please keep teh rest of us updated on how the temple option apps are working out? Are people getting in? For those with strong GPA’s, are they getting scholarships and how much? i know a kid who may apply with great GPA and test scores that underestimate their abilities so Temple option may be wisest route for them to go. thanks!!!

My son did the Temple Option as an applicant for Tyler School of Art and was accepted. No word on scholarship yet.

Congrats on Tyler accept! And thanks for feedback

Congrats to your son! When did he apply?

@luvmiballerina - congrats on the Tyler acceptance. My son is a freshman at Tyler and loves it. If I remember correctly he didn’t receive notice of his Tyler scholarship until late March or maybe even April. long after he had been accepted to the school.

My son did the Temple Option because he only took the SAT once and it was during his junior year. His scores were not very strong, but he didn’t retake due to his decision to take a gap year. In January of this year, he decided he no longer wanted to take a gap year. He applied to Temple in February and we struggled with whether he should send his scores. We decided against it and he was accepted. No word on scholarship yet. It took about five weeks for a decision, but his teacher recommendation took a while to show up in the portal so that could have been the reason for the delay in the decision.

I am just seeing your post now, from last year. I recently posted about my daughter’s experience with the Temple Option. She had a strong GPA (3.6857) and should have qualified for 10k/year. However, with the Temple Option, the essay answers are scored and need to meet a certain score in order to qualify for a merit scholarship. My daughter’s essay score was not high enough. So, she will get no money from Temple. Seems like a big loophole with the Temple Option. I’m interested to hear if others in a similar situation have actually gotten merit scholarships using the Temple Option. Very disappointed in Temple.

thanks for real world info on this… sorry it did not work out for your daughter

Very good post

@crowe2003 Hello, can you tell me a little about about the temple option? Was it hard or difficult?
