Temple University Auditions (BA Theatre)

I’m an international student and I wanted to know if it’s possible to audition by sending a video (BA Theatre with an Acting Concentration)

i don’t know, contact the theatre dept directly and ask them. also, you can enter the theatre program without an audition. So you can come to Temple (if you decide to go there) and then audition on campus once you are a student. You can also opt out of an audition altogther and still get a theatre BA. There are some benefits to being being accepted to the acting concentration (and you do need to eventually audition if you want to be accepted to acting concentration). however, Temple is very flexible with the theatre BA; you can take many courses without an audition and you are allowed to audition during or after your first semester as well. get on their website for more details and then see who to ask for more questions. if you cannot determine who is best to ask questions too, send an email to Professor Peter Reynolds. he is in charge of the musical theater program. he may be able to answer your questions directly. if not, he can let you know who the best contact person is. my son initally applied to Temple as a theatre major so we sent several emails to Temple’s acting professors while he was still in high school. Every professor i contacted was very receptive to the emails and gave us good advice.

Thank you so much for your help!

your welcome and i forgot to mention, i think you do want to audition now if you are hoping for a theatre scholarship. please verify that with Temple directly, any general questions you have about Philly, temple, or any other American schools? what are you looking for in a school and city?

yes! tomorrow I’m going to call and ask them about the audition. I’m looking for a university with a good theatre program that it’s not that hard to get into because I don’t have that much experience and that also has scholarships for international students.

Temple sounds ideal then! i assume you are in international scholarship range then? i think scholarhships are case by case rather than automatic for international students. Temple does have a good theatre program plus a lot of the profs are approachable, encouraging, and good teachers, which makes the program either better! plus since it is Philly, there are off campus theatre oppurtunites too. i would think teching or interning off campus would be easier than acting off campus but even working tech at a non-educational theater would be a great experience and a great way to network in the field. if you can’t get an answer by phone, then please email people.

That sounds great! thank you so much for your help  I already sent them an email
