What do you think of this online degree (BBA from Fox Business School)? It is designed for student who already have 2 years of college and plan to take the rest 2 years fully online. I am interested in accounting. Will I be able to land a job? Or all firms as soon as seeing online degree will not even call me to interview. I plan on also taking either Masters or MBA in order to be eligible for CPA. Any thoughts, or comments would be appreciated. Thank you!

I would recommend not doing the online degree. As a graduate from a big university like Temple U, you will meet a lot of people and gain a network. That network is especially helpful when you are looking for a job.

As an example, Temple U has that day where recruiters specifically come for JUST the Fox school. There are over 50 (maybe 75+) recruiters and about 15 of them are probably just for accounting. Some of those recruiters may ask 1st year associates to help them with the process and will ask, do you know this person? The recruiters may also ask interns attending Temple with you, do you have any classes with this person? What type of person are you?

This has been helpful for me getting at least a first round interview. This will also be helpful after graduation if you ever want to switch accounting firms or just looking for another job. Of course, all of this is from the perspective if you are looking for a job upon graduation. If you have a job already set up, then this may not apply.

Thank you so much for your advice. I have decided to attend Temple Campus classes, since I can switch to online BBA at anytime, but not from online to traditional. I am currently unemployed, only have temporary unstable jobs, so decided to use college networking events. Thank you once again!

I know this isn’t exactly what this thread is about, but is Temple a decent school for undergrad business?

If I’m correct, their undergrad business school is ranked 55th in the nation.

Temple’s notoriety doesn’t extend much out of the Mid-Atlantic, so if you ultimately want to work out of the region be wary of that.

WHAT SCHOOLS HAVE THAT NOTORIETY ALL OVER EXCEPT IVY’S? THANKS

I’d say schools like University of Michigan, U Chicago, UVA, and NYU all have recognition across the nation. Besides Ivies like UPenn.

I’m assuming your all caps message was a typo. Anyways, take a look at the US News rankings, and the top 20 (minus maybe 3-4 schools) would be considered nationally renowned schools with say 3-4 of the schools at ranks 20-30 being considered nationally renowned. In short, its a very small number of schools.
