Temple University was originally my safety school, but I received a full tuition scholarship and was accepted into the Fox Honors program so now it is looking very attractive. However, I’m a bit apprehensive about choosing it over other schools with higher-ranked and better known business programs.
Has anyone taken accounting classes at Temple University? I would love to hear some feedback about professors and courses. Does the undergraduate accounting program at Temple University have a good reputation in Philadelphia and NYC? I plan on staying in Philadelphia or NYC after I graduate so I don’t really care about Temple’s reputation outside of New England. I saw that the Master’s of Accountancy program has a 96% placement rate, a 70% passing rate for the CPA exam and a 50% placement rate at the Big 4 firms. However, I cannot find statistics for the BBA in Accountancy. Is it safe to assume that they probably have good job placement for their undergraduate accounting students also? Is it normal to get my BBA and Master’s of Accountancy from the same school, or would it be better if I got my Master’s at a different school?
I don’t know about Temple per se, but the statistics sound good and a full tuition scholarship is a great thing to have. Maybe you can talk to someone in career placement or in the accounting program to see where people end up and get information about things like class size etc…
Because 150 credits is now required for a CPA, many students take a one year masters at their college (many schools have auto-admit programs for the MS in accounting programs). However, some students apply to and choose to go to a different university for a one year masters (ex. my S did his undergrad work at Fordham and got a MS in accounting at Notre Dame and it worked out very nicely for him).
Do you think it is better to get my Master’s in Accountancy at the same school as my undergrad (assuming I go to Temple), or at a different school? I was thinking maybe I could do the 3 year BBA in Accountacy at Temple (I would be able to finish in 2 years because Temple accepts all my AP credit, so I would already have 46 college credits) and then go to UT Austin, Notre Dame or BYU for my MAcc.
^^^I think you don’t have to think about where to get your masters before you start college. My S did not decide to apply elsewhere until his senior year.
