Hello! I submitted an application to Temple University Via the Common App in mid February. My college counselor then told me that she had sent my ACT/SAT scores with my transcript to the school. Thinking I had all of the necessary things done well before the application deadline I rested easy. I recently got online to see if my admissions decision had been made and it said my application was incomplete, that they were still missing my ACT/SAT scores. Flustered I called the school asking if maybe it was misplaced and they said they didnt have it. I asked if it was too late to just try and send them directly from the official websites to them and they said it was fine. I know that obviously this is all happening a month after the app deadline but my question is even though he said it was fine for me to re send them, will the affect my admissions decision? if so, how much? I am very concerned as I really want to get into this school. Please help me out I am very worried.

You should have sent a copy from the official ACT/SAT sites before the deadline. Most colleges will not accept ACT/SAT scores from HSs (though that is unclear from the Temple admissions web site). Since the school is allowing you to send the scores now you have to take them at their word they will still consider your application. They could have just said it was too late.

I would suggest sending directly from the ACT/SAT site. In the meantime, you could have your counselor fax or email the ACT/SAT reports to the admissions office. Admissions will have the reports immediately and the site report will confirm your scores. My DD did this with her ED school and was admitted. Good luck to you.

Well while I was in the office talking to my college counselor about sending them to Temple she called them and asked and they said it was fine if she sent them with the transcript. But right after I got off the phone with them I ordered the scores to be sent with priority shipping from the official websites.

@ChristophBabb - If the admissions office said it was fine, then it’s fine, and there’s no need to worry!
I’m not sure it’s true that “most” colleges will not accept scores sent directly from the high school. I’ve found quite a few schools that will accept scores that are included on a student’s official transcript, and many that will also accept a copy of the score report sent by the high school. It’s a well-kept secret - and a great way to save on SAT/ACT score report fees . . . except when, as in this case, something goes wrong. But the lesson isn’t to always pay the fee for the official score report; it’s to check your application status page regularly to make sure everything’s been received.

Fair enough. When I checked some random schools there was a mixed bag. For instance Stanford requires a copy from College Board as does my local directional U. Another directional U in OH doesn’t specifically state. The best thing is to check with the school.

Yeah. I definitely realized that I need to be consistently checking my application status until its complete. Unfortunately I had to learn that lesson the hard way. But thank you for the re assuring comments that I should not worry if they say its fine. Just a side note do you know when I should be hearing back from them? If not, its fine I was just wondering.

Contact them to ask.
