Does anyone know anything about Temple Nursing? How is there program? What are the requirements? If you are in the program or know anyone who is/was what was their GPA/test scores?
Just trying to gather some information before application time soon!
Thank you everyone for any info:)
i know it is hard to get into and is a good program, let me see if i can get in touch with other people who know a lot more than me on thsi. GPA i want to say is at least 3.8 to have a chance(that may be higher than it is but i remember is being high). a lot of classes are at medical school and not main campus so you need to find transportation up there. medical facilities are about 1 mile north of main campus. there is a campus shuttle but many students took the subway.
@mkb1998 - My D started in Temple’s nursing program last fall. Temple’s program is a well-established, respected, direct-entry nursing school with a great NCLEX score. Clinicals actually start in the first month of the program, which is much sooner than many programs. The nursing school requires a higher GPA for acceptance than the university in general. GPA is assessed by the nursing admissions counselor, using English, math, science, social studies and foreign language grades. Non-academic course grades aren’t used.
My D’s gpa was about an UW 3.8, W 4.4 - this was her high school’s calculation, not Temple’s. She took the SAT 2 times - the 2nd was in Oct of her senior year. (She increased her score a lot the 2nd time, just by understanding the testing taking process.) She applied to Temple with her original score and then sent the new score in with her mid-October application.
Apply early, no matter to which schools you decide to apply. Nursing programs have earlier deadlines than the general application deadlines and seats fill up early. Stay on top of the deadlines of each school you apply to and try to have your apps in by the end of October.
I’ll try to answer any questions that I can and see if I can get a parent from last year’s cycle, as my D’s app cycle was 2 years ago. Also, please read the many posts from last year’s Temple nursing app cycle - a lot of good info there.
My son is a freshman in the nursing program. Unlike most nursing programs, Temple admits their nursing students in Freshman year. It is a very competitive program. I believe there were about 1200 applicants with about 150 admissions. With that said, my son had a high GPA (4.1) and an above average SAT score (1790). He applied to Temple very early and actually Temple was the first school to respond. I would advise that your child also take the ACT’s. Temple bases a lot of their scholarships on the raw numbers. I have been impressed thus far with the program. He has a clinical experience in his first semester! I hope this helps
Hey! I emailed ask an owl at Temple University over the summer and they said that
the Average GPA of a student who attends the nursing program is a 3.68
and it is required that you have at least a B in Biology and Chemistry. Also, they average roughly a 600-650 on each section of the SAT but require a 550 minimum on the math portion. They mostly look at 9th-11th but if they need to then they will request your senior year grades.
They often receive 1,200 applicants and have 70 seats for the program.
I hope this helped! I recommend if you have more questions, email them at askanowl@temple.edu

Its competitive but not TOO hard to get in, I was accepted with an 1180 CR+M SAT score and a 3.7W and 3.45 UW gpa and im OOS but im not sure if that makes a difference
