Temple University vs. Penn State-Main Campus?

As the college decisions boil down, it’s been very difficult to decide between the two schools. I have long admired Penn State and I used to dream of going there, but recently, I cannot imagine settling down there for four years. I was accepted to Penn State, Temple, and Savannah College of Art & Design (not going there for financial reasons) and I was waitlisted at University of Chicago, Loyola Marymount, and Lafayette. I would definitely go to UChicago or LMU if there was a space opened up for me, but I can’t decide between Temple or PSU.

I plan to major in either International Relations or Business. I love that Temple is right in the middle of Philadelphia because location is very important to me. On the other hand, I have heard that people generally enjoy their experience at PSU better. There seems to be a closer alumni network, study abroad programs, and generally, people say that PSU’s academics are higher than Temple.

Please help! I can’t decide if I’m a red and white girl or someone who should wear blue and white.

If you haven’t accepted PSU yet, you will likely get put in supplemental housing.

There would be better internship opportunities in Phila. Phila. is a much more international city and is a convenient train ride to NYC and DC for activities if you want to do international relations.

State College is colder. I would guess that Penn State’s business program has a better reputation.

Both are fun places…

You might try to do some research about how hard it is to get into the classes you would want.
