I have recently been accepted to Temple and TCU. Both give me a full tuition scholarship, so money does not worry me.
I am going to major in Electrical Engineering. What is the best for me ?.
Thanks.
i don’t think either are super well known for the eletrical engineering program so regarding the programs, either should work. you might check to see where each school’s grads end up at if you can research that issue. Temple is in philly and tcu is in Fort worth, are you familiar with those 2 cities or would you like more details on living in either of those 2 cities?
@ctl987 Temple University is ranked #115 best undergraduate program where a doctorate is offered. On the other hand, TCU is #47 best undergraduate program where a doctorate is not offered.
So, what do you think is the best for me ?
Btw, could you please give me more details about philly and fort worth?. I am an international student, so it’s quite hard for me
well for starters, i grew up in Texas and do not remember hearing about TCU’s engineering programs over the years so i would not let the higher rank be the deciding issue. i have a cousin who is an engineer in Texas so i will ask her, she may even be an EE. TCU is considered a good respectable school across the board so you will get a good education there(and at Temple) regardless of major and my best guess is both engineering programs are reasonably respected in the engineering field. i will write more about philly and Forth worth more by the end of week latest. i need to run now.
hello, Temple is of course in philly. i consider Philly an east coast city although it is actually a bit inland. it is a big city full of lots of American history. the people can be considered rude but i personally found them pretty cool/ philly has lots to offer anyone due to its size and teh subway station literally drops you off on the Temple campus. so it is very safe to travel southbound to center city from temple all day and many evenings. i would not go alone at 2AM but 8:30 on a weekday evening should still be safe… philly also has bus and train options to nyc and wash DC and Baltimore as well as train options to Boston. You will get a fair slice of “East Coast” culture if you go to Temple. Temple is a in a very bad area but the campus itself is safe and fine. and as i mentioned above, you can safely use the subway to get off campus, at least south of campus. TCU is in Fort Worth Texas, one of the bigger cities in Texas. i have not actually been on the TCU campus in close to 20 years. however, back then, it was in a nice part of Fort Worth. there should be plenty of affordable housing(by American standards) near campus. There was not much public transportation in Ft Worth 20 years ago. however, it is possible TCU has some shuttles or buses to get students to off campus events. Ft. worth is a nice city that seems smaller than Philly. the Texas stockyards are there so it offers some history there and you could get a greyhound bus to travel to Austin, Tx, which is the capital of Texas. there is a lot to do in Austin so it would be worth one or several weekend trips. it is a 3 hour car drive from ft worth and my guess is 5 to 6 hours by bus unless you could get an express bus. TCU should have plenty to offer college students. fort worth is not that far from Dallas and there is likely some public transportation between the 2 cities. many people in Texas drive their own vehicles everywhere which is why there is a lot less public transportation. Philly will get cold during winter. this year was brutal. Fort Worth def has nicer temperatures that range from 40 to 60 degrees farenheit during several months with some days in the 20’s and 30’'s farenheit. it gets hot during teh summer(90 to 105 degrees) and summer can last from june through early Sept but most thinngs are air conditioned so you can escape the heat. any specific questions that you have?
Thank you so much Your information really helps my choice :).
i am curious baothachvn. which school did you decide on?! or are you still working on that?
I just put my tuition and housing deposit on TCU. I love the warm weather and modern facilities of TCU. Btw, I mainly choose TCU because my best friend also goes to TCU lol.
i have yet to meet someone who regretted going to TCU! and i know several graduates from there. The Texas weather is wonderful in the fall, winter, and early spring. Watch out for toranodoes this time of year though forgot to mention that. i never got caught in a tornado BTW although some were close. and Forth Worth is less tornado prone than say Oklahoma or Kansas. and if your best friend is there, then you already know how awesome it is have fun!!!
