My son is a rising junior in school in Europe and has little exposure to US college coaches Any recommendations for a tennis camp next summer with good visibility for ivy and nescac coaches?

Donovan tennis showcase at Princeton. They are all there.

Are the tennis camps worth the money if your child has a high (borderline 5 star) tennis recruiting ranking?

No. If you are a 5 star, all the Ivys and NESCACs should be interested in you (provided your academics are good enough). Just contact the coaches of the schools you are interested in directly.

Thanks Xwords.

Thanks. Do East coast coaches also show up to the California Donovan event? Has anyone out there been to the Donovan Showcase and found it useful?

If you look at the Donovan website, you will see that the California event is mainly for California schools. As a general observation, if you are from overseas, this (either CA or Princeton) is a good way to gain exposure to coaches, because they can see you play and look at your results versus other kids on tennisrecruiting. Otherwise, they have no way to really know what level you are playing at (unless you have a high international ranking through ITF or have a direct connection to the coach).

Xwords59 - two questions for you: What grade (junior?) should attend Donovan events? Would a sophomore be too early? You said a five star player probably doesn’t need to attend. What about a three star ranking player on TRN?

Most of the kids are rising Srs, although there are some pretty good rising Jrs there as well. The better players are 3 & 4 stars. It is really an exposure camp for 2 stars and unranked players for the attending coaches. There are lots of good 2 stars who don’t play on a regular basis, and will be good players in college. There are also lots of kids fom China and Hong Kong. If your kid is a 3 star, that is good enough for the vast majority of d3 programs.

My kid is a 3 star, and we went. I don’t think it really changed his “recruitability”. We went because a few people in our section told us it would be a good thing to do. We did meet a lot of coaches in person and that was a big plus.

I hope that answers your questions.

Yes, it helps a lot. Thank you so much!
