Tentative Candidate for Admission

what are my chances of getting in after getting the letter saying im a tentative candidate for admission?

About 1600 in 10,000, since that is approximately how many people are accepted and how many open the applications.

Really, there is not enough information to give you a good idea of how competitive you are.

wow thats quite a bit of competition!! has anyone have had any experience with the air force academy interviews?? (just curious so I know approximately what to expect  )

There will be several interviews during the application process. Some will be for congressional nominations and you will have an interview with your ALO.

Nomination boards could be anywhere from 1 to about a dozen people. Mine were panels of 2 and about 10. These will probably be rather nerve racking for most candidates. You should expect questions like why you want to go to the academy, what career field you want to go into upon graduation, what you want to study, you strengths and weaknesses, what your back-up plans are, etc. Of course, there may be some curve-ball questions. One panel asked me what the best book I had read in the past year was and why. Others will occasionally ask about current events.

The ALO interview will likely be longer and less formal.

For all interviews, remember to dress appropriately, be prepared, practice at home or with a teacher.

Remember to pay attention to all dates, too.
