**So I'm just looking for a nice overall analysis. I'm trying to solidify the list of colleges I'm going to apply to, but I want to apply to some Ivies (HYPS, Cornell, Columbia) and some safeties, of course. What do you think my chances are and where else do you think I should consider applying?

I think you have some chance at the Ivies, but it is big reach for the best of candidates due to the extremelly low acceptance rates and quite frankly, there are more qualified candidates.

I would recommend the University of Virginia, Boston College, Northeastern, and Penn State. It all depends on what you want in a college. What major are you looking at?

I’m thinking of a writing/film major, but I’m not completely decided. I know there are more qualified candidates, but I’m going for really high a really high SAT (I’m going to study till my eyes bleed, I’d expect).

I’ve applied to TASP, and while chances for that are slim as well, it would definitely boost my application if I were to be accepted. Additionally, I’m from an under-represented geographical region (Eastern Kentucky, which is basically an Appalachian Mountain area) and my school never sends anyone to an Ivy League School.

Oh, and I forgot to put that I’ll be the valedictorian of my class (current rank: 1)

your stats seem good but ivies are always a rech for anyone
Washustl, Carnegie Mellon, and Rice might be other good reach schools for you
also look into applying to baylor and case western reserve (no app fees) as safeties (case is prob a low match though. And if your doing film isn’t NYU good at all that stuff?
