As i was looking through my common app today (had to get my mid year reports sent, so i just checked quickly over my app), i realized i had made a horrific mistake. On my extracurricular section, i had put my work (unpaid) that i do for my uncle's company under the category of paid work. Im applying for financial aid at many colleges and since I recieve no income (I dont have a job), i didnt need to file any tax returns (obviously) or submit any forms on my behalf to any colleges. But im worried now because colleges might think im lying to get more financial aid because on the app it says i get paid for my work when really im just helping my uncle out. What should I do? I dont want the colleges to think Im a liar, I really need advice. Anything would be appreciated.

This is hardly a terrible mistake. Financial aid and admission are typically discrete enough that I would be surprised if this were even noticed. If you’d like to, you can email the admission department to let them know of the mistake. Absolutely no harm will be done.
