Well, this year I got an academic non weighted GPA of about 2.8 both semesters.

I took 4 Honors courses and pre calc, which is in general mainly for juniors.

its a 3.0 UC gpa

i am planning to easy up my courseload next year, taking one ap and one honors, and other easier classes. i will have the easiest schedule out of basically all of my friends to up my gpa.

if i get a 3.7-4.0 , a 4.0-4.333 UC GPA

can i still get into a good college?

varsity tennis

70 hours community service

40 in a foreign country

i got a 176 by barely studying for the psat

so i am going to study a lot for the sat and hopefully get like a 2000.

if i can do all of that, get a good upward trend, could i make some good colleges? like UCD, UCSB, or UCI? or other good colleges? Atleast UCSC?

please advice me what to do and how to improve my chances. am i right to take easy classes and up my gpa?

i still have plenty of time. please help and guide me!! thanks. what should i do to up my admissions chances at collegs?

"okay" schools? yes.
"top" schools? eh, it depends...

my college counselor likes to tell this story. one of his advisees had very low grades his freshman year...mostly C's and a D or two. he pulled them up to B's and C's his sophomore year. A's and a B his junior year. A's his senior year. he's at brown now.

of course, this is not to say that this will work for you. but, my grades are not great because i am an awful classroom test taker...i have terrible memorization skills. so, i do well on papers, etc., but come final exams i am hopefully. i made mostly B's, with some A's and a C or two sprinkled throughout, and i got into schools like dickinson, rhodes, and sewanee, which are considered pretty competitive schools. i did very well on the SATs and focused a lot on strong EC's, essays, and interviews.
