On test day I thought i was confident... But I don't know what happened. I started thinking about college and everything and I don't remember the reading part. I did good on english and math... But on reading, my mind left. They said time was up and I knew I blew it so I cried during the Science section.

I got 20s on both the reading and science.
28 and 27 on English and math.

I'm afraid of it happening again. What if my mind goes blank? I literally just freaked out. Maybe it was stress.

What are some tips on clearing your mind and staying positive and confident while taking such a long test?

Practice yoga & meditation.

You can retake the ACT. You’re going to need to learn to handle timed, pressured, situations. I’m sure when you retake it you’ll perform better. Take practice tests that simulate the real thing, meaning 8 AM Saturday mornings in a silent room with only 1 break.

Admittedly, Reading is the one subject I find possible to draw a blank on. It’s so easy to lose focus and the timing can be pretty tough. You MUST take timed practice tests to fix this.

Good luck.

Oh geez, I was exactly like that during my first AP test. But if you’ve prepared hard enough, then don’t worry. Keep your mind on the test, and don’t lose focus. One thing that will help you to keep focus is if you associate the test with something you love, like a complex puzzle to solve or something like that. If you ever get tired during the test, just relax for a few moments. Even if you forget to answer the questions ( I never liked science ACT), it won’t kill you. Remember, there’s always next time. Keep your college search to a minimum, or you’ll end up like me. At way, you’ll have the goals you see in mind.
Sorry, I was rambling, but I hope this helps. <3

:( reading section is all about being focused and immersed. the less you’re focused and immersed in the passages, the less you will absorb, and the worse you will do. just relax. practice meditation. lol. just treat is like a practice test. think this way. “this is just a practice test like i took before, no big deal.”

Hi. I suffered from test anxiety for so many years, and tried all kind of treatment from hypnosis to medication. I have to admit, none of them really worked for me.

In my last semester I found a new natural remedy named Naturax Kit and decided to give it a try. I have to admit I usually don’t really believe in homeopathic remedies, but I thought checking it out. After using it for 4 tests already I have to admit it works for me very well. You should also consider trying it before you give up.
