Just got off a webinar with Director of Admissions from FSU and she said that the Florida Board of Governors is considering Test Optional / Test Blind for the next couple years. Nothing decided, but nothing off the table right now. This would be for entire Florida SUS. Decision hopefully coming in May.
That would be horrible.
@NJCity it would be terrible for my daughter Who has a strong score now, but great for lots of kids that aren’t good test takers.
Did they say Test Blind - that is very different vs Test optional and would be big news. I believe all the schools that have announced changes to their policy are test optional. If the ACT/SAT come back in time for Fall testing, I believe schools will continue to value the test scores even if they are test optional. I think there is another thread on CC that shows test optional schools and the enrollment rate of current students still submitting a test exceed 80-95%. (UChicago, Wes etc).
@coffeeat3 she DID use the words “test blind“. She mentioned test optional and test blind and said nothing is off the table. I was shocked to hear that.
Test blind would be an earthquake!
Did they talk about how that would work with Benaquisto, or the future of Benaquisto?
@Mwfan1921 nothing about bright futures or Benaquisto. I would be shocked if they did anything more than Test optional though.
Well, they started to super score this year and I am not sure how it translated into admissions, but I would think many students did benefit from this change and many high stat students were surprisingly denied Some numbers were just posted, I just do not know if the data reflects these changes.
Due to the current situation, I would think both UF and FSU will continue to get even more competitive for admissions as many parents/students will be looking for more affordable options (always the case) and the idea of staying closer to home.
@collegeisago Do you mean just the the middle 50% that was posted on UF admissions page or was there more info? I was wondering if that was for fall or summer?
The information posted was not made clear. That is all it was posted.
