Seeing lots of other universities (including Big State U’s in other places) going test optional for this application cycle. I’ve seen no inclination of that for UF. And test scores are obviously necessary for Bright Futures (at least students can continue to take tests until next summer to qualify for that - perhaps things will have settled down in time for that to be less of an impact). I know the ACT has been offering tests - has there been room for everyone who wants to take it?
Just wondering if and to what extent students are going to be disadvantaged by having had fewer opportunities to test. Maybe there haven’t been that many fewer opportunities? Would like to hear thoughts on this.
@Hoggirl Idk, but I know a lot of people that are praying for UF to be test optional. My DD will be applying but got her score in December. It doesn’t seem like the Florida Board of Governors wants to budge on this for some reason. The individual colleges don’t get to decide. FLBOG decides for everyone.
@flprepaidmom - it’s easy to understand why. So many applicants! Plus, the tie-in with Bright Futures which is also score dependent. I don’t The sense that they are going to budge either.
Glad your DD has a score with which she is satisfied. I feel bad for these kids who planned to take a test “just one more time,” in hopes of raising their scores. Seems like access and the likelihood of testing continuing are going to be more and more problematic as we get further into the fall.
