Test preparation or tennis?

I’ve been playing tennis for freshman and sophomore year of high school. I am a junior. My mom suggested that I don’t do tennis this year because I am taking the SAT, college applications, volunteering, AP Exams, etc. I also am an officer for 2 clubs. Tennis would take up 2-4 hours of my time everyday from March to the end of the school year. Should I continue doing tennis or give up tennis to do all those other stuff?

If you are not highly ranked in your sport, like on a national level, listen to your mom!

I was on varsity sophomore year. I am pretty sure I will be in varsity IF I were to play this year. Also, I plan on doing tennis senior year no matter what because there is almost nothing going on at that time.

I say play Tennis. For one, it looks so much better on college applications, showing you can handle yourself, plus if it’s something you enjoy, it can help take some stress away. And if you take a year off, you may not get your varsity spot back

For me, tennis puts on additional stress… Competitions stress me out and I have the pressure to keep on winning. However, I know it looks very good on college applications. I am so stuck!!

OP- You have left out the most important detail: what is your current score and what is your goal score?
You may not need a lot of prep if you are close.

Very low score, close to 80-90th percentile. My goal score is to be in the 95th-99th percentile.
