Test Scores at a Test Optional School (Smith)

Hi all! My DD is looking at Smith and we are trying to figure out if she should submit test scores or not since Smith is a test optional school. She has a 29 on the ACT so I’m not sure that is high enough to submit? The posted range is 28-32 so her 29 puts her on the low end of those who submitted scores. I would appreciate any input or experience with this!

I got a 28 and got accepted without any super amazing extra curriculars. 29 won’t make or break anything. I would just submit it since if you don’t submit test score it kinda indicates a person is prollly below the range

She is in the middle 50% of those submitting scores. It means she is in the range of the typical Smith student. Does she fit in the other areas? GPA, interests, reasons for choosing Smith - those issues will be more important?

Love KU by the way. Lawrence is a great town too. Couldn’t get D1 to consider it because, well…she is a Smithie now. D2 is considering it though. Still a year away…

She does fit in the other areas and she had a great on-campus interview earlier in October - so I’m hoping that will help!

Lawrence is a great town  KU is about 9 minutes from our house and I work on campus, it’s a good school, but it’s bigger than what my DD is looking for in a college. That said, she has applied to KU and was accepted so although it’s not her first choice, it is a very viable option for her. If you ever have any KU questions I’m happy to help (I’m not in admissions or financial aid though).
