testing

Hi

I just got my SAT II scores for June, and I was wondering if I have to retake anything...I am looking at several top 20 universities. (and of course many other schools)

According to my guidance counselor, I don't have to retake the SAT or math 2C
My scores for those are:
SAT
Math -- 780
CR -- 750
Writing -- 800
Total -- 2330

Math II -- 730

On the tests from June, I got
English Literature -- 780
Spanish -- 730

I'm mostly considering retaking the spanish
I'm asking because I've seen several posts on the board that say that for top schools, anything below a 750 puts you at a disadvantage.
Since the math is already below that mark, I was wondering if I should try to make the Spanish higher (I'm not a native speaker, by the way)

I was also curious if getting a higher score would be good for placing out of courses later on? (once I'm in college) -- especially for a subject like Spanish...

I also have a Math 1C score of a 670 that will be on the score sheet, but I was hoping that the other three would be the ones they focus on.

Thanks!

Personally, I wouldn't retake. Your scores are not going to be reason for any rejections or deferrals you may receive.

As for placing out of courses later on, a high score might help, but most schools also offer departmental placement exams at the beginning of the fall/spring semester which you can take to get credit as well. Also, some schools won't accept SATII scores for placement (i.e. Penn doesn't accept SATII Chinese for placing out of intro Chinese courses; students have to take the departmental exam)

Whoa, same SAT I score as me. Cool.

I think that as long as you took the SAT I after Math I you should be okay, since the math section on the SAT I is basically Math I, imo.

I don't know if you'd have much of an advantage in retaking Spanish...but you may want to consider taking another SAT Subject Test, if you're going to apply somewhere where 3 subject tests are recommended. Counting Math I as your third subject test would probably hurt you.

Math II would actually be my third subject test

so I'd have:

Lit : 780
Math II: 730
Spanish: 730

and then there would also be a Math I 670 on the transcript, but it wouldn't be one of the three...

spanish is really the one I am considering retaking
