Texas A&M game: hotels, tickets advice

DD is going to audition for the dance program and that is in conjunction with the Alabama Dance Repertory concert on Friday Nov. 9. This is the day before a home game against Texas A&M. My D had hoped we could go to a football game so I’m trying to see if I can work out the logistics and cost.

I’ve booked a room at Fairfield Inn for $109 for Thurs nite, but rate jumped to $279 for Fri & Sat. I’ve looked around and see there are very few hotels showing availability. Am I lucky I even got a room, no matter the price?

I have a few other questions…

-Is it possible to get 2-3 tickets for this game? What is the likely cost? I realize A&M is new to the SEC this year so it could be an interesting game…If I get “regular tickets” and DD links up with a few friends who are students, can she go sit with them in student section? Hoping to get DH to come with us, so I would have someone to sit with!

-I did see on another thread that many hotels still may have availability for game days but they have rooms blocked from online ressies. Any suggestions which ones??

-Do ANY hotels offer a shuttle service to campus for game day? Are taxis a viable option?

Many thanks in advance!!

The Greystone Inn in Vance is showing availability November 10 and 11 for $186.00/night. I’ve stayed there. Nothing fancy, but clean, easy access to Tuscaloosa, and the staff was very friendly/helpful.

Here are some reviews:

If you’re going to book the Greystone Inn, call them first as they will often have a lower price for the room in the sense of not charging extra for 2 queen beds.

The Greystone Inn has a manager’s reception the night before football games with wine and beer, has free diet drinks and bottled water, and offers mimosas and Bloody Marys on gameday mornings as part of the continental breakfast.
