Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science - Will I get in?

I really want to attend TAMS but I’m not sure if I’ll get in due to my lack of awards.
My stats follow:
I swim competitively and I also play soccer. I was recognized by Duke Tips grand recognition ceremony: I scored a 27 on the ACT in 7th grade the sub section breakdown follows: 25 math, 25 english, 28 science, 30 reading. I’m homeschooled although I take a few classes at the local community college. The classes I’ve taken at the community college so far include Trigonometry, Microeconomics, Introduction to Ethics, American History, and Psychology. My best subjects are reading and science. I also volunteered at the library for a year. I’m going to take the ACT again this winter and I hope to improve my score. Do you think I can get in TAMS. PLEASE HELP!

You seem to have a pretty good chance, but I’m not very knowledgeable. I can’t guarantee that I’ll accurately chance you.
First of all, TAMS has around a 40% chance (probably less) of getting in.
A 27 for the ACT in 7th grade is a pretty good score! Your community service experience will also help.
Judging by the name, the academy seems as if it mainly focuses on STEM. I think improving your math would help.

I’m just wondering, why would you like to go to TAMS? I’m just wondering out of curiosity. TAMS seems like a really interesting school, but I don’t know a lot about i so it’d be great if you could tell me.

Overall, you have a pretty good chance of getting in! Best of luck to you!!

I decided not to go to TAMS as I got admitted to another program. For some information TAMS is a STEM academy for highly gifted 11th and 12th graders located in Denton, Texas. It is a very competitive program and only Texas residents can apply. It is part of the honors college at University of North Texas. The attrition rate is very high about 10% of each class does not graduate. I decided not to go because I had better opportunities elsewhere.

Oh that’s great to know! Congratulations!

May I know what did you choose vs TAMS? Just curosity.

Yes, I got accepted to a duel credit program at an honors college at a local college. I plan to graduate high school at 15/16 with an AA and then apply to Rice, UT Austin, and Duke.
