Hey All...
I was told by my band director about this policy, where any UT/A&M University, must meet a scholarship award amount given to you by another university (out of state)... Does anyone know if this is true and if so.. where's the website/source?... I have a 20,000 dollar scholarship for an instate college, but a 60,000 dollar scholarship from a florida university... so, basically, my instate college must equal this amount?... Anyone know of this?.. Please reply, thnx!

I doubt it would be true.

If anything, they would take the OOS school's cost of attendance - the OOS school's scholarship, and make the price of the in-state school the same. They wouldn't just up a scholarship like that.

Also, they would almost certainly consider the quality of the OOS school. If you're from Texas, and you got a full ride to Florida International, and asking UT-Austin to match the award, they would likely laugh at you.

No, it's not true.

Definitely not true. Find some diplomatic way to question your band director about this.

For two years recently I was the Prez of my kid's high school Academic Booster Club. We are in Texas. I never heard of this. If it was true I am sure we would have heard of such a good deal. I suggest you ask your counselor. If I'm wrong let me know!

Someone is pulling your leg! Seriously!
