Just found out did not get into Cockerill, but instead Texas School of Undergraduate Studies. I am OS and have scholarship offers to Purdue, Texas A&M, Illinois Honors, admitted to GT. Austin was my dream school for CE. Does anyone know the likelihood of being admitted to Cockerill after the 24 credit hour requirement. Is it even worth it to suck it up and pursue?
I am NM Finalist, SAT 2260, all APs 4 or 5 except Physics, a 3, and now in Calc.III as a HS senior. What happened to me? So sad. Appreciate any advice.

Go to Georgia Tech and don’t look back

OS explains it all. UT has a huge instate mandate. You’re still in great shape just not perfect shape. GL

Don’t worry. Texas is hard to get in Out of State. Go to one of the other schools and be happy. Good luck

I’d go Texas A&M. Excellent school and alumni network for help with securing jobs after graduation. My brothers went to UT on NMF, and even though they went on to professional schools afterwards (law and medicine), they did not find a helpful alumni network in securing employment, especially the lawyer, who remains in Texas. Texas A&M has a huge alumni network and I’ve never met a graduate who has had trouble finding a job.

You have great choices, there is no reason to pass on them for General Studies just to go to UT. My S passed on UT to go to TAMU engineering even though he was admitted to Cockerill and he loves it. GT and Purdue and Ill are all great choices. You can love anyone of those. If you know you want to be in CE don’t put yourself through the stress of maybe not getting to do what you want to when you have all of those other great choices. You’ve earned all of those options take advantage of them!!!

If you got into Georgia Tech, I don’t think you should be looking at other colleges. I would choose either GT or UIUC honors depending on which one is cheaper. Even if you had gotten into cockrell UT at Austin, you should goto Georgia Tech.

Georgia Tech is a really good school for CE. If you look at the rankings its always in the top 5 above UT Austin. Not saying that rankings are the main reason to determine which college but I’d just shoot for Georgia Tech.

There’s a lot of people that would kill to be in your position.

My Ds is going to Georgia Tech he was also accepted at Purdue. However GT is in state. You didn’t say which state you live in. Do you have the finances to go to which ever school you want? GT is a great school however they don’t have a lot of scholarships for OOS students.
