UT for CE? Talk me out of this please?

Accepted to Purdue, UIUC, and GT with CE intended major. but fell in love with Texas and Austin after visiting. Have been reading some very venomous past posts between Texas and A&M graduates about quality of program etc at Texas. Is Texas for CE worth it compared to the 3 schools I have been accepted. I am OS.

First of all, by CE do you mean civil engineering?

Second of all, you should generally not judge the quality of the programs at Texas and Texas A&M based on the opinions of folks from the opposite school (or at least those who went to undergrad at each one). The amount of vitriol between the two and inability to be impartial just disqualifies probably more than half of the opinions in that debate.

The University of Texas is a fine engineering program. One of the top programs in the country. You won’t be disadvantaged for going there.

I don’t want to talk you out of this… I’m in love with UT myself.

Before A&M bolted for the SEC, their rivalry with UT was on par with that Red River Shootout thing. Ask a Bruin what they think of USC’s business admin program.

Can’t go wrong with any of those schools.

actually meant Chem.E, not Civil. and that was one concern about Texas, seems heavily weighted in petroleum areas. so we will see. OS much harder to get into anyway.
