Hey everyone,

I am a junior in high school in MA.
I was wondering how hard it is to get into UT (especially cockrell) out of state.
I got a 2200 on my sats and 760 on math II subject test
I have taken ap chem, ap comp sci, and apwh(not that that matters for this).
I have gotten As and A-s in honors math freshman through junior year
What classes should I take next year for my best chances ofacceptance into Civil or architectural engineering programs? Anything else that would boost my chances?

Thanks

My daughter is a senior in arch e. Those math scores are key. My nephew in a southeastern state was accepted in comp sci but he had perfect math scores and was a Nat’l merit scholar. Looks like you are in the ballpark! Write excellent essays!!! It is more competitive each year…esp for out-of-state students because Texas is such a huge state with so many excellent students! But they like to have students from all over the world in every class! Best of Luck! You can do it if you have an exceptional application!

schmegel, I was a female Arch E major at UT many years ago! My dad is an prof in the department, so your daughter has probably had him for a class!

OP, my son got into Cockrell as an OOS student. He had a 2220 on the SAT. It may have helped that he was an Eagle Scout and an excellent distance runner.

MaineLonghorn,
I have admired your many wise answers on CC! I’ll bet my daughter would love to get good advice from you and your father! I may PM you when I have some time!
Is your son still at Cockrell or has he graduated?
Our daughter has had great experiences in Arch E!
